COVID-19 awareness and distribution of pandemic protection kits: Since March 2019, which marked the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cameroon, the government of the country has implemented a response plan as well as preventive and case management measures for positive cases. To support the government's actions in this fight, on April 16, 2021, at the Multifunctional Youth Promotion Center, Regional Office of the Far North, we held a meeting with youth association leaders. The objective of this meeting was to reduce the risks of pandemic spread.
The strategy we adopted was to mobilize five leaders from youth support structures, namely CMPJ 1, Maroua 2, Maroua 3, Association for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Children and Women (APPDEF), and the Association of Solidarity Youth of Pitoaré (AJESPI). These associations, acting as community relays, were sensitized on preventive methods for COVID-19 and the importance of adhering to barrier measures. Subsequently, these associations received protective kits such as masks and handwashing kits. A total of 250 handwashing kits were provided to the associations.
